Model assisted supercritical fluid extraction and fractionation of added-value products from tobacco scrap

Residues of the tobacco industry are a source valuable compounds such as solanesol and nicotine. In this work, supercritical fluid extraction these from scrap was studied. The effect key process parameters (pressure, temperature, time) analyzed phenomenological model applied in order to derive solubility mass transfer coefficients. Furthermore, nicotine obtained by were fractionated means liquid-liquid extraction. Results show that different conditions required depending on purpose extraction: low pressure (15 MPa) enhance yield selectivity, high (37 promote extraction, while results indicate best which controlled parameters. These provide indications for valorization residues produced industry.
